After a bunch of questionable p2p releases, the scene finally gives us a region-free retail disc of the highly anticipated follow up to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Even with it being properly stealth patched I would NOT play this while connected to XBL–Microsoft is in the habit of banning people that play big releases early (see Halo 3: ODST and Forza 3). Should I burn an activation disk just like I burn a game cd? In other words, I burn this activation file on a dual layer DVD and run it in my xbox 360? Can I use a regular CD?

TXDude, yes, you’ll burn the activate.iso to a dual layer DVD, but ONLY on the first layer. I assume you’ve got a LiteOn drive (iXtreme 1.61 for BenQ and Samsung drives has Wave 4 capabilities, as does iXtreme 1.51 for Hitachi).

Prozac, I don’t know what I have in my xbox 360. I took it to a guy to mod it and he sent me home when he finished. So, I don’t know what program he installed on my xbox. When I load the copied disk to play I get the big 360 symbol on the screen and nothing happens. It reads the game like it was a movie. However, when I push the play button nothing happens. I’ll try to load up the activation disk.

I’m in the same boat as TXDude. It seems I get a screen as if it’s trying to play a DVD. I’ve downloaded the bootdisk, but how do i ensure it only burns on the first layer?

What happens if I don’t?

Same boat as the three above (starting to become a cruise liner in size ha). I assume the answer lies in the pre-boot disk? I’ll give it a whirl today and post back the results.

FSII - It does work. I burnt it on a dual layer as instructed, put it in my XBOX for 10 seconds and that white screen saying "Please put this disk into an xbox media device" came up with all different languages. Waited a further 10 seconds to be safe, ejected that disk, put the new one in and Voila!

Because I don’t use my live account anymore, I had to update the game before going ahead and playing it. But everything it needed was on the game disk itsel, so no need to worry!

Burned succesfully to an Infinit 360 disk and all that occured was a small period of time in which the xbox was "Reading disk" and then it simply read "Open Tray".

I’m burning to a Verb now to see if it was the disk. I will be very upset if I waste a Verb though

Guys, the activate disk works just fine and I am fairly a newb when it comes to computer skills. I downloaded the activate rar file and burned it onto a verbatim disk. If you have img burn version 2.5 it will ask you whether or not you want to keep the file on the first layer or second layer. In other words, the file is so little it tries to ask you to put in a single layer DVD. I just clicked the button to make sure it only copied the game onto the single layer of my verbatim DL +R disk. It is really easy. When you place the activate game/disk in your xbox it will show you a screen (green screen) to place the game disk in a xbox 360 console. I left the activate disk in my xbox for about 20 seconds and switched it out with the game disk.

Now, if I could find a usenet file for dragon age origins that doesn’t ask for a stupid file password. Ughh

Is this a limited edition copy of cod Modern Warfare 2 or general copy?

I have seen several posts on the web stating this may be a ban magnet as only 5000 copies of limited edition disc is to be released. Also it has been pulled off nzbrus.

This version from Rrod is working a 100% and i have been playing it offline.

So I’m wondering, with the last wave of bans, is it safe to play wave 4 games on 1.6 fw with the activate.iso disc? I want to play MW2 on Tuesday after work but I can’t buy the game until Thursday and I don’t want to risk having my box banned. I can’t have it flashed to 1.61 until the end of the week and I. Does anyone know if it’s confirmed safe or should I just wait?

@matty most likely ur gonna be banned either way cuz I just got banned n I was playing my RETAIL COD4+COD/WaW this whole month. Have not played a back-up game since like October 3rd. My fw is 1.6 MS have been banning ppl like crazy even the innocents, my friend’s newly bought non-modded 360 got banned. He bought it brand new from Target I know cos I was there.
