Synopsis: In a world 10 years into the future, vampires make up the vast majority of the population with only 5% of the human race remaining. This presents particular challenges as the vampires’ food supply – human blood – is dwindling and rationing is now the norm. There is growing evidence that vampires deprived of an adequate blood supply are themselves evolving into wild, vile creatures that attack anyone and anything in order to survive. Dr. Edward Dalton, a vampire and hematologist who works for a pharmaceutical firm, has been working on finding an artificial blood supply that will meet the vampire society’s needs. He is sympathetic to humans and sees his work as a way of alleviating their suffering but his views on finding a solution change considerably when he meets someone who found a way to transform himself from being a vampire to again take human form

Synopsis: When his brother is killed in battle, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge’s intentions of driving off the native humanoid “Na’vi” in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na’vi people with the use of an “avatar” identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand – and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.

2:24 PM - January 26th, 2010 Posted in CAM, Movies, Non-Scene |

IMAGiNE have released a CAM of “Tooth Fairy” starring Dwayne ‘The Rock ‘ Johnson. Now there wasn’t too much to fuck up on this encode, but these geniuses found something, IMAGiNE that! The height of the video is (again) not mod16 so expect problems when playing on some standalone players, and whoever encoded this must have no eye for aspect ratio as this is way too stretched, the cropping is perfect so this should have been spot on 16:9 but they made it way too wide, a resolution of 624×352 would have yielded perfect results, but no, these retards couldn’t figure that one out.

Quality: Good quality CAM, slight flicker but not overcropped, aspect ratio a little off, audio is a little hollow but audible.

Synopsis: Derek Thompson is a hard-charging hockey player whose nickname comes from his habit of separating opposing players from their bicuspids. When Derek discourages a youngster’s dreams, he’s sentenced to one week’s hard labor as a real tooth fairy, complete with the requisite tutu, wings and magic wand. At first, Derek “can’t handle the tooth” – bumbling and stumbling as he tries to furtively wing his way through strangers’ homes…doing what tooth fairies do. But as Derek slowly adapts to his new position, he begins to rediscover his own forgotten dreams.

1:39 PM - January 26th, 2010 Posted in CAM, Movies, Non-Scene |

Here we have a CAM release of Legion by P2P group IMAGiNE, there was another CAM release yesterday, this one uses the same source and suffers from the same noob encoder problems. The first thing anyone with any encoding knowledge will notice is that the resolution is not mod16 so expect to have problems playing this on some standalone players. Secondly they fully acknowledged in the nfo that this video has a bad angle, what it actually has a bad rotation, but even still they fail to even attempt to fix it, a simple rotate would have done wonders. Now, based on the amount of ghosting, blending and flicker id say this was filmed at 29.970, so why perform IVTC on the video? Who knows, I’m just glad it wasn’t IMAGiNE’s fault this time as it was a source problem, but the resolution fuck up… c’mon.

Quality: Average CAM quality, a little blocky as its a reencode of a reencode but is OK for now, slight flicker, bad rotation, audio is hollow like any CAM but audible, a decent encoder could have made this a lot more watchable.

Synopsis: In the supernatural action thriller Legion, an out-of-the-way diner becomes the unlikely battleground for the survival of the human race. When God loses faith in Mankind, he sends his legion of angels to bring on the Apocalypse. Humanity’s only hope lies in a group of strangers trapped in a desert diner and the Archangel Michael (Paul Bettany). Quite a surprise from p2p land with a good quality screener of this latest interpretation of Conan Doyles “Sherlock Holmes”. This is a flick that has enjoyed some excellent reviews and has a strong stable of talent so it should be quite an enjoyable ride. Screener time is well and truly here again so please enjoy this latest leak.

Quality: Excellent quality screener that has been tweaked by this p2p outfit. Some ‘property of’ messages as depicted in the screen-shots and AC3 audio. Overall very watchable.

Synopsis: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous super-sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, gets an update with this adaptation of Lionel Wigram’s comic book series by writer/director Guy Ritchie (RocknRolla) starring Robert Downey Jr. as the titular detective, with Jude Law stepping into the shoes of his sidekick, Dr. Watson. Heading up the rest of the cast are RocknRolla’s Mark Strong as the film’s villain, Blackwood, and Rachel McAdams portraying the love interest, Irene Adle

ToXiC are back with a V2, technically a rerip but what do they know? I was hoping they would learn from their mistakes first time around, and actually use the advice I sent them, but again, they didn’t perform IVTC on this, and even say they used AutoGK, yuck! On top of that the filters they ran this time are just awful, almost as bad as a KingBen claymation telesync. Regardless of the lack of IVTC, this has all it’s intended content intact so I will still be watching this, shame out the encode quality though.

Quality: OK quality DVD screener with 5.1 AC3 studio audio, with a much smaller watermark than last time, too over-filtered imo.

Note: Seems like it goes ever so slightly out of sync from 1:24:00 onwards. There is also a glitch at 58:05 that results in missing content.

Synopsis: Based on Cormac McCarthy’s beloved, best-selling and Pulitzer Prize winning novel, Academy Award nominee Viggo Mortensen leads an all- star cast in the big screen adaptation of “The Road,” the epic post- apocalyptic tale of a journey taken by a father (Viggo Mortensen) and his young son (newcomer Kodi Smit-McPhee) across a barren landscape that was blasted by an unnamed cataclysm that destroyed civilization and most life on earth.

So, Group HLS released this in what they claimed to be retail quite a while ago now (May 2008), however yesterday KART3LDVD released a DVDR, which is the source for this new P2P encode by SANTi. Since this wasn’t posted before I thought it’d be worth a shot anyways. Not super well rated, but could be worth a watch either way (Although do get through all the awesome screeners first).

Quality: Retail source, quality looks and sounds great.

Synopsis: A self-destructive housewife takes what may be her final step into the abyss in this independent psychological drama. Nancy Stockwell (Maria Bello) is a woman edging into her forties who has fallen into a deep and prolonged state of depression, finding her only solace in self-inflicted pain. Nancy has grown weary of her relationship with her husband, Albert (Rufus Sewell), and one day he comes home from work to find a note in which Nancy says she’s decided to visit an old friend for a few days. When Nancy doesn’t call after several days, Albert begins to worry that something is wrong, and he soon learns that Nancy hasn’t told him the truth. Nancy has struck up an on-line relationship with Louis Farley (Jason Patric), who has a passion for violent sex, and she has decided to meet with him in person, but she has more in mind than just a fling — she believes that Louis is the man who can end her misery by killing her. Also featuring Amy Brenneman as Nancy’s analyst, Downloading Nancy was the first English-language feature from Swedish filmmaker Johan Renck.

The Road! DVD screener! From ToXiC? Yes, newcomer non-scene group ToXiC have released a DVD screener of highly anticipated film The Road. One I can’t wait to see so I will be watching this release for sure, but I just noticed the framereate and this release has no IVTC performed which is a bumber. But it has 5.1 AC3 audio which is excellent, it has a watermark in the bottom right corner, which I think is a good thing with all these borderline-scene groups re-encoding other releases. Quick note, the nfo says 720×304 but the video is actually 720×320, nothing wrong with that just noting it.

Quality: Decent quality DVD screener with 5.1 AC3 studio audio, a small watermark on video but bearable. The screenshots don’t do the video justice.

Note: Reports that this is missing at least 24 minutes of the film.

Well, here’s an interesting release. The title says it all, it’s what looks like the full script (in PDF format) to the 3rd Twilight movie, so if you want to live through it in your head before you watch it next summer, then this is your chance. Of course there won’t be anything mind boggling in this script since the movies are based on the books. Enjoy it or don’t but here’s a chance to check out the script.

Note: I put this in the movie category and Non-Scene because it seemed like the most fitting category we have. It was released on torrents, so you’ll most likely find it there or on DDL providers.

Synopsis [POSSIBLE SPOILERS INCASE YOU HAVEN'T SEEN PREVIOUS TWILIGHT SERIES MOVIES]: Bella and Edward have been reunited, but their forbidden relationship is threatened to be torn apart again with an evil vampire still seeking her revenge. And Bella is forced to choose between her true love for Edward or her friendship with Jacob Black as the struggles between vampires and werewolves continues. But there is still another choice for Bella to make, mortality or immortality?

Average, muddy CAM video paired with mediocre CAM audio of a family film. If your kids really cannot wait to see this and you don’t want to take them to the cinema then enjoy; or better still wait for much better quality. My advice would be to wait for a real TS Scene release…

Quality: Yet another mis-labeled p2p release. CAM video source with CAM audio therefore a CAM and nothing more. If this was a CAM video with direct audio THEN it would be a TS but it isn’t..so “it’s just another CAM” to quote one scene member ;)

Synopsis: Pop sensations Alvin, Simon and Theodore end up in the care of Dave Seville’s twenty-something nephew Toby (Levi). The boys must put aside music superstardom to return to school, and are tasked with saving the school’s music program by winning the $25,000 prize in a battle of the bands. But the Chipmunks unexpectedly meet their match in three singing chipmunks known as The Chipettes -– Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette. Romantic and musical sparks are ignited when the Chipmunks and Chipettes square off

A non-scene release here of “Case 39″, this releases takes DVD screener video and combines it with English CAM audio, it also has Spanish LiNE audio muxed in too. The best case scenario is that the original screener will pop up with English studio audio, or secondly that some nice English LiNE is acquired and a DVDSCR.LiNE gets released. As the source for this release was a Spanish DVDSCR, and those Spaniards tag anything that’s not retail as screener, this could very well originally be from an R5 source which they synced with Spanish LiNE.

Quality: Good video, but CAM audio will make this unbearable for most.

Synopsis: Social worker Emily Jenkins (Renee Zellweger) thinks she has seen it all until she meets her newest, most mysterious case, troubled 10-year old Lilith Sullivan (Jodelle Ferland). Emily’s worst fears are confirmed when the parents try to kill Lilith, their only daughter[1]. Emily saves her and decides to take her in herself until the right foster family comes along, only to find out the girl isn’t nearly as innocent as she thought.

p2p group PrisM have previously released a TS of this movie and now they bring you the DVD screener. I will wait for a scene release but if you’re a fan of PrisM or just p2p in general, this is probably for you. Be aware that there is a rather large ‘Trial Version’ water mark that appears every few minutes.

Quality: p2p quality with a nice ‘Trial Version’ message. This message is recurring.

Synopsis: When a decorated Marine goes missing overseas, his black-sheep younger brother cares for his wife and children at home—with consequences that will shake the foundation of the entire family. BROTHERS tells the powerful story of two siblings, thirtysomething Captain Sam Cahill (Tobey Maguire) and younger brother Tommy Cahill (Jake Gyllenhaal), who are polar opposites. A Marine about to embark on his fourth tour of duty, Sam is a steadfast family man married to his high school sweetheart, the aptly named Grace (Natalie Portman), with whom he has two young daughters (Bailee Madison, Taylor Grace Geare). Tommy, his charismatic younger brother, is a drifter just out of jail who’s always gotten by on wit and charm. He slides easily into his role as family provocateur on his first night out of prison, at Sam’s farewell dinner with their parents, Elsie (Mare Winningham) and Hank Cahill (Sam Shepard), a retired Marine.

It really is Christmas! Bill Bailey is one of my all time favourite standups and comedic actors. His stuff is simply hilarious and I love seeing him on panel shows as well. This did air on BBC2 so if you’re in the UK you can stream it on iplayer. Check out the clip I linked below, it will give you an idea of what this show is all about.

Quality: A rip from Crackpots DVDR here from PrisM, very nice.

Synopsis: Bill Bailey has carved himself a niche as a comedian with a brain and a love for music. His stage shows see him mix a rambling style of stand up mixed with musical comedy. It’s during these musical monologues that Bailey really shines and his oddball genius can best be seen. So it is a great idea to have him take over the Albert hall and take his lunacy to a new level with a full symphony orchestra in tow. Rather than stretching his ideas too thinly, writ large they seem to take on a new lease of life and he appears more of a potty genius than the spaced out hippy he seems on tour.
