Tower of Defense at it’s best! If you love the well known gametype “Tower of Defense” online then you absolutely love Defense Grid: The Awakening. It’s an advanced version of this gametype featuring great graphical effects, stunning enviroments and a big range of enemies. I’m definitely going to be downloading this game guys!

Description: Defense Grid: The Awakening is designed to be the definitive tower defense game. The role-playing game lets let up to four players hack, slash and smash their way together through a hand-drawn landscape. Defense Grid: The Awakening has 20 unique environments, each with a different placement of roads, tower build locations, and open areas to plan a strategy around. Each level encourages a different strategy, such as trying to find an optimal path to redirect enemies, making the best use of limited space, and breaking up individual enemy waves to avoid being overwhelmed, all while planning ahead for future waves.

I think it was on Steam only that time, meaning you had to have Steam on for playing. Maybe they finally fixed that.

If anyone would have the problem of not having "x3daudio1_4.dll", run the DirectX installer included in the package.

Getting problem after installing "d3dx9_38.dll was not found". Also cannot find the DirectX installer in the package.

@ 18 (Nick): This error message appears because your computer does not have a version of DirectX that is from March 2009 or later. The game installer checks for this and will typically update your DirectX to the appropriate version.

Should the installer application fail to install this more recent DirectX version, you can go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en and manually install the latest DirectX for your computer.

I got this game when it was on sale on Steam a few weeks back for $5. Great game and easily worth the $5. I’m not sure it is worth the normal $20 pricetag however. If you are thinking about buying and it is $20, just wait and play some free flash TD games like Bloons Tower Defense 3 while you wait.

Remember, support the makers if you like and buy the game.

Thanks for the shares guys. Maybe this will introduce new gamers to TD games.

For those still having problem with direct X. You can easily download and copy any missing files asked and copy them directly to your direct X directory, i had to do it when i had a broken down direct X. But like said before it much more easy to just reinstall direct X 9.0 final march.

The download is the game (extract and play) and as such it’s recommended you keep the origianal rar as you source so that you don’t mess it up having played the game.

Three points to take note of;

1. If you receive directx file errors then download and install the latest directx engine from microsoft.

2. If you get physx errors download and install the latest nvidia physx system software (error related to directx setup\status).

3. If you get a ’stream error’ download and install the steam client (no need to set-up an account or anything, just have the client running. you can even block the steam.exe with your firewall software if you want to to make sure there are no ‘calls home’).
