aAF has released both parts of Derren Browns latest show “The Events”, in this episode he tells you how you could win the lottery. This is also my ‘Staff Pick’, as I’m a big fan of Derren Brown and although this isn’t his best show it’s certainly still very much enjoyable as well as being very interesting. I highly recommend “Evening of Wonder” which FTP released back in January, also check out some of his videos on YouTube.

Highly enjoyed the show last night, no, wasn’t as good as some of his shows, but it was still very well presented and was very interesting.

@ 5 (David Blaine): Watch part 2 ;).
@ 3 (omfg): At the ihatetv uses already built in wordpress functions, to stop “staff picks” or “non scene” tv posts showing up would mean recoding 2-3 major wp functions. I may do a quick and dirty fix in the future but It isn’t a priority. As there aren’t many of these tv posts.

It was definitely a camera trick. If you look closely at the ball on the far left you can see it has moved up a few mm when the frozen image is faded back. Lame.

If you are doubting Derren Brown or think he’s a fraud you should really look up more about him. You’re probably just another ignorant American that has no idea who he is. Open your mind a little and actually learn who someone is before you get on your soapbox and call forth "real" magicians. You probably watch trash like Criss Angel and yet cry foul for a genius such as Derren Brown.

Sorry "Awesom-O", but Derren Brown really damaged his reputation (if he actually had one in the first place) with this lottery stunt. He outright lied or blatantly misled the viewers many times in both parts of this show and then got horribly caught with his pants down when the assistant who replaced the rack of balls on the frozen left part of the screen placed one several mm’s higher, so that when the screen unfroze, the ball "magically" moved upwards - please explain the "genius" of this to me!
There are many videos on YouTube exposing this video flaw and basically making Brown look like the laughing stock he is - here’s one:

What’s even worse is that he did indeed pointlessly split this into two shows and the second show had him claiming that he asked 24 people to guess the six Lotto balls and use an average of the total for each ball to predict the draw. Which of course leaves you with 6 numbers *still* with a 14m to 1 chance to win the jackpot - duh!
Using live camera tricks when Channel 4 broadcasts in HD on some platforms is a ludicrously risky thing to do, because close study of HD frames with a PC will inevitably spot any mis-match. Brown has done exactly this and the whole thing has blown up badly in his face. No wonder we call him a "tw*tdangler" here in the UK - he’s in the same league as the waste of oxygen that is David Blaine and anyone who is a "ghost hunter".
