Equilibrium.2002.720p.HDDVD.x264-ESiR77
In another addition to films that you could be watching instead of spanking it to sparkling vampires while dreaming about all the barely legal teens venting their slightly disturbing and somewhat unhealthy fantasies upon a film based upon a crappy novel collection, comes Equilbrium. POSSIBLY the last decent film Bale did before he adopted that annoying as all hell raspy american voice for the batman movies. God I hate the dark knight. Begins was alright though, but really - is the voice necessary? Seriously. If you haven’t watched this film, add it to the queue with leon, get some munchies in and watch now.
Ugh. I swear to hades, it’s only been two god damned days, and I’m already sick of hearing about robert bloody pattinson. Chicks find him attractive? Really? REALLY!?
Quality: Behold the sound and picture awesomeosity of Sean Bean and Christian Bale rockin tha muthafuckin hizzouse! Sorry. I was just listening to Coolio singing gangsters paradise. I have no other excuse.
Synopsis: In a futuristic world, a strict regime has eliminated war by suppressing emotions: books, art and music are strictly forbidden and feeling is a crime punishable by death. Cleric John Preston (Bale) is a top ranking government agent responsible for destroying those who resist the rules. Whe he misses a dose of Prozium, a mind-altering drug that hinders emotion, Preston, who has been trained to enforce the strict laws of the new regime, suddenly becomes the only person capable of overthrowing it.

Regardless of all the bitching I enjoy having movies recommended when there’s nothing interesting being released. Thanks for taking the time to make staff picks War, I haven’t seen either movie but from your previous picks I’m certain they’ll be great viewing.
Don’t bother with the vultures, it’s not like they have anything better to do than pick fights on the internet.

Maybe it would’ve been a good idea to mention this is an almost ONE YEAR old release and should’ve been in the ‘zerosec movie discussions’ section, rather than being a ‘new release post’.
My opinion about equilibrium ? The movie kicks ass. Love the dark-room-shooting-scene

I have to say War’s rants are becoming part of the attraction to this site for me. Good taste in movies too.
November 22nd, 2009 at 3:50 pm
WAR!!! Brilliant post hun, this great movie deserves it. Robert Pattinson is NOT attractive, he has slanted untrustworthy looking features and is practically a child. NOPE, not sexy.
ROSS KEMP :o( You probably already know I think you’re a bit of a wanker. WTF are you doing here when you clearly hate all those who operate this site. FFS grow up, please.

If something like an actor’s voice affectation controls your opinion of an entire film, you’re probably better off not watching at all. Or, better yet, just leaving your ignorant opinions in your head. Stupid.
November 22nd, 2009 at 10:10 pm
@66 - and if you don’t think the voice of an actor is important, then maybe you should stock to charlie chaplin?

Okay, axxo is a gigantic douche. However, ESiR, and especially DON have consistently put out 720p and 1080p x264 releases that are superior to their counterparts from the scene. This simply happens to be true, not matter how much one wants to complain about it. In reality, the scene is good for standard dvd rips, but seems to drop the ball in a lot of other ways. Do I really want to listen to music in v2? Really? How about at least v0, but preferably in loss-less FLAC. The scene fails utterly in music, and tends to release blu-ray and hddvd rips too quickly to get the quality right, let alone include extra features like subs and/or commentary tracks.
Oh, and as far as Bale’s raspy voice in the Batman movies, it is intentional, so as to disguise his normal Bruce Wayne voice. This is as per the comics, and as an avid reader of them, I found this to be a nice touch. It is always a good thing when film makers make efforts to appease the fans of the franchises they interpret. I am sure we have all had the experience of hearing that a movie is about to be made of one of our favorite books/comics/tv series and feeling a mix of joy and dread: joy that it is going to receive the attention it deserves, and dread that the studio might screw it up completely. Christopher Nolan has made the kind of Batman films that fans and readers of the comics wanted made from the start, and has stayed true to the "Year One"/"Long Halloween"/"Killing Joke" spirit.

@War… first off love your work. Going to get in touch (via a different route) about you maybe contributing to a magazine that I run.
@ X Fail.
@ Scene… really? I’m sure if you had your way only 4 people would be using this site. But, they would be really really ‘hip’! Good business model loser.
P2P? Scene? Don’t give a fuck. Can I watch it, is it good? I, like probably 99.99% of everyone else on here, care about nob all else.
At least War’s reviews are funny which is more than can be said about your ‘critique’; which incidentally made me want to shove pens in my eyes.
@Ross Kemp: You might want to read this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humour You won’t get it but it might help.
