HIGNFY is one of the few good shows left on the BBC (and still one of the funniest after all these years). I record the Friday airing (which is this one that’s been posted up) as a precaution, but then record and watch the Saturday extended version instead. This has 10 extra minutes, usually made up of mistakes by the presenters and those mistakes can often be the best bits of the show (leading to running gags by the panellists…). A shame no-one ever bothers to post up the extended version!

Hmmm…this might be the extended version after all - there was confusion this week because of the dreadful Children In Need telethon cluttering up Friday’s BBC schedules (good cause, terrible terrible TV viewing that goes on for hours longer than necessary) and I think HIGNFY was skipped (Jack Dee was the presenter for the Fri/Sat 13/14 Nov airings) until next week. 44 minutes sounds about right for the extended version’s running time.
I despair when I look at recent UK TV schedules - the US shows I download are so embarrassingly better than what we’re producing here in the UK. I had a tiny bit of hope for the new "Paradox" sci-fi series next week (sci-fi on UK TV seems to begin and end with Doctor Who, which is good, but we need other stuff!), but even this was almost totally extinguished when I realised the rather talentless Tamzin Outhwaite (ex-Eastenders, says it all) is the lead in the show!

@rld: you have every reason to be suspicious whether or not this release is extended.
The Friday airing is called Have I Got News For You, whilst the extended version is ALWAYS called Have I Got a Bit More News For You.
It’s even named this in the BBC iPlayer ffs, get the names right releasers.
