Attention all x86 (32-Bit) users that are desperately trying ways on how to make Left 4 Dead 2 work on the PC. A couple of days ago Razor1911 release what we thought, a good version of the game. But it ended up not. Now ladies and gentlemen, I present you a working update that will help you run the game. Please make sure you read the NFO! Delete all previous L4D2 cracks/installs and start new. I can confirm that this is working!

Edit: Seems it kinda crashes or my computer is just garbage. This release does bypass the crash to desktop at the beginning after the intro though.

Description: Down in the bayou of Louisiana, all hell has broken loose in this second entry of the multiplayer zombie-fest. Players assume the role of four new survivors, each with their own personality and new dialog. The game leads them through the southeastern region of the US — from Savannah, Georgia through the bayou country, and climaxing in New Orleans’ French Quarter.

This co-operative action horror FPS takes you and your friends through the cities, swamps and cemeteries of the Deep South, from Savannah to New Orleans across five expansive campaigns. You’ll play as one of four new survivors armed with a wide and devastating array of classic and upgraded weapons. In addition to firearms, you’ll also get a chance to take out some aggression on infected with a variety of carnage-creating melee weapons, from chainsaws to axes and even the deadly frying pan. You’ll be putting these weapons to the test against (or playing as in Versus) three horrific and formidable new Special Infected. You’ll also encounter five new “uncommon” common infected, including the terrifying Mudmen.

I bought the game and it works just fine for me. Your computer must be utter garbage because i have not had any problems. Plus steam updates automatically so you shouldn’t have any problems since you bought it too.

It has nothing to do with a "shitty" computer, the game is just full of bugs. Which is odd because the game is basically an add on for L4D1 - it looks the exact same with just new levels with added melee.

Mine crashes to desktop constantly and my computer is far from shitty. Dual 3.0Ghz with 6gb(ocz gold) ram with an nVidia 9800gt pciexpress2 on Windows 7 64-bit.

All I’m saying is that if you have a half decent rig, you should have a 64 bit OS.

Those ’some people’ should really be the minority by now, especially the people using this site where a 64 bit OS costs absolutely nothing.

Comments like #7 are so useless and very inaccurate. It’s not about people having "garbage" computers. Steam themselves have publicly acknowledged the bugs (specifically the crash to desktop) and are working on the bug.

Had a clean Install of the game and now its fine.
Also, 64 bit Windows is always known for its gaming issues. MOst of the older game wont even install on it. So nothing new with this one. So suck it 64x users.

Its strange that all the Links for the game still works. If it were for some other game, the links would have been dead by now.

Maybe game developers wanted people to know that Pirated version doesn’t work, so they would be tempted to buy the game.

#9 is somewhat right. Anyone having 4GB RAM or more should use a x64 OS instead of x86 because x86 OS cannot see more than 4GB (XP cannot even see full 4GB).
But for machines with less than 4GB RAM, I don’t see a reason for using 64bit OS instead of 32bit.
If this game does not work on 64bit systems because of crappy/buggy cracks I can live without it.
@13: Most games released today work well with x64 Windows (even if game developer does not officially support x64 OS).
@20: There’s nothing wrong with that entry. There are many such entries with "InprocServer32" in system registry.

Ive heard about a crack where as you need to unpack the iso and copy the contents to the install dir then use Left.4.Dead.2.v2.0.0.1.UNCUT.NON-STEAM.PATCH-NES crack.

Has anyone tried it yet?? Im in the middle of the unpack now I will post my results later.

We have a working crack folks,
With a big thanks to Ilovetorrentshelper this is all his work from another site I just re-uped

1. Install Razor911 Install

2. DO NOT USE RAZORINIT.EXE. This will mess everything up!

3. Use steam (google it and download it) and install it in your computer.

4. Find the Left 4 Dead 2 demo from google. It should lead you to steam’s website where Left 4 Dead 2 demo is. Start downloading it but you don’t have to finish the entire download, you only need one little file from it.

5. Go to Steam/steamapps/common/left 4 dead 2 demo/left4dead2/bin folder.

6. Copy the DLL file called client.dll. It should be 6.46 MB.

7. Paste client.dll in Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/bin folder. You can close steam now if you were able to successfully paste client.dll here.

8. Download http://www.mediafire.com/?zv2tuootbjz . It’s a folder called steamup.zip.

9. Open steamup.zip and copy the file called server.dll.

10. Paste server.dll in Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/bin folder.

11. Go back to steamup.zip and copy Launcher.exe, SteamUp.dll, and SteamUp.ini and post them inside the Steam folder.

12. Run launcher from the steam directory sign into Steam (not your own one, create a new one) goto left4dead2 folder and run left4dead2.exe

13. You can also download the latest SteamUp version (just google it and download it, it installs itself in the Steam folder on its own) so that you will be able to play Left 4 Dead 2 while steam is running.

Multiplayer (with Garena)

1. Download Garena.

2. Join a Left 4 Dead 2 game room.

3. Find the Settings button and click it.

4. Point the exe to left4dead2.exe.

5. On bootstrap, type +sv_lan 1 +sv_allow_lobby_connect_only 0 .

6. Make sure you’re running steam that has SteamUp installed to it.

7. On Garena, click Start Game.

8. Pick a multiplayer game type, and if it has players in that mode, you’ll see them on the list that you can join.

Confirmed working on Vista SP2 and XP SP3

Geezuz Friggin Christ!

Thanks to all for the info and intended help, it’s appreciated.

But if one needs to do all this crap to play a PoS game, it’s just easier to BUY the PoS game or just skip it and move on to something less hectic. No game, no matter how good, is worth this kind of friggin torture and work.

The bottom line is, the release group(s), whether they make it for scene use only or not, should release something that actually works, otherwise why even bother releasing it at all, it’s only a waste of their time and bandwidth and everyone else’s, as well. It’s been days now since the original release(s) and still no real proper or fix available. Looks like it’s time to stop beating the dead horse and pack it in with this game release, if it still don’t work for you yet. It’s FREE, so we got to STFU and/or move on.

Funny thing though, seems like most, if not all, the download links to this game are still active, few or non have been taken down, not only for this site but for other sites, as well. Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmm …
