Now time for some nostalgia: just a few minutes ago ALiAS has released Metal Slug which has been very popular for many years and I have definitely enjoyed many hours playing them over the years, so enjoy some old school gaming if you don’t already have this 
Note: This release is in both English and German.
Description: Released in 1996 by SNK, Metal Slug is a side-scrolling military-action game. Players control Marco and Tarma, both members of the special-ops force Team Peregrine Falcon (commonly known as Team PF), and battle their way through stage after stage of intense action. The goal is to try to overthrow General Morden and win back the stolen weapon, the Metal Slug. Players must blast through waves of enemies and machines (while also jumping over any obstacles in the way) to advance through the stages. It’s not as hopeless as it might sound, though - weapons such as heavy machine guns, shotguns, rocket launchers and flamethrowers, as well as the Metal Slug itself (which appears frequently in the game), will make the battle easier. Take on General Morden with a friend to lighten your load and ramp up the excitement even more.

Children should have to play these oldies at school, in a mandatory way.
This is a part of history.

an emulator is like a program that turns your pc into the game console that matches the game. so this might be a (example) sega magadrive version of metalslug and the emulator turns the pc into a megadrive kinda.
Youll see packages out there like "500 nintendo games + emulator"
In this case by seeing the game cover it says NEO GEO in the bottom right corner, when i was about 18 i worked in a game shop and we sold NEO GEO consoles, they were around when Nintendo 1 was about and obviously by the screenshot… that was the graphics at the time for a NEO GEO game compared to megadrive, nintendo etc graphics. It cost about 5 times as much at the time though lol

The Neo Geo home system was so awesome but outrageously overpriced. The main system was around $800. Games were $250-$400 and controllers were $150. Only rich kids could afford a Neo Geo so me and my friends had to get our fix at the arcade.
However thanks to emulation, I can play all the classics using Final Burn Evolution. I’ve been playing Metal Slug and Baseball 2020 for some time. Fun stuff.

you’ve got to be kidding me… you neeed MAME and the original ROMs and you have the originals. who wants to play this crap, it even has some crap filtering so it looks like shit. metal slug and all SNK titles need to be played trough MAME and MAME only.

Is anyone apart me that is having problems running the game? I run setup.bat, it creates a new file called mslug1.jms which is 173 MB and if I run mslug.exe it crashes.
Does anyone have a clue what to do ?

my eyes! you’ll rip your out too if you play this on a 30" lcd monitor at 2560×1600 resolution. this ain’t no hd gaming folks. no thanks. i’ll play it using mame or some other emulator. even then, it’s so funky pixelated in a very bad eye hurting way.

Yeah, I tried all combinations to try to run it in Vista x64 (all compatibility, as admin, etc). After running setup successfully, it crashed on game start after resizing the screen.
