So apparently this is a polished up remake of a game by the same name released in 2001 for PC and the original Xbox. The textures have been sharpened and colors brightened to make this seem like an ‘HD’ version of the original game. I believe that other than the fact that it’s ‘HD’, it’s exactly the same as the original. People that played the first one may enjoy this one for nostalgia purposes, although the original game got decent reviews (7.7 on IGN).

1. extract rar-s to get an iso-> rld-sshd.iso
2. Mount with deamon tools or poweriso
3. on the desktop create map with random name )
4. from the mounted iso copy the files into the newly created map/folder (copy-paste)
5. download the provided Install FIX
6. unrar phoenix.exe into the newly created map/folder

9. click on instruments->SID unpacker
10. click on scan a SIM-file
11. choose Serious Sam HD The First Encounter_disk1.simfrom the map

For me I will buy this game, the company is worth it, just wish they didn’t stop patching ss:se. ss2 sucked but oh well. I bought ss:se and it was worth the money then and I’m sure it will be worth it now. i actually d/led the first one to see how it was, it was actually better then the single player for ss:se. Noth will be the online action of the second enounter though.. wow those were the days.. hopefully the multiplayer code is stable and not random bs with high ping and lag that makes your ass bleed.

I realise this isn’t exactly the place to let people know where to buy games but if you want to buy this one you can get it off http://www.getgamego.com for £10, bought it off them and they give you a key that you can enter in steam or you can download it off them too (I put it in steam, quit steam and copied the All.gro file from my rld release over the one steam had started downloading and thus didn’t have to download it again)

Anyway decent price for online + supporting the developers.

Liam, the game retails for $20 anyways. That evens out to around 10 pound, I think?
(retail isn’t out as far as I know, but Steam sells it for $20. Retail *should* be coming out in December, also $20.)

I did all what you advised here, but the game cannot start because a dialogbox shows that d3dx9_42.dll is missing. I have Windows 7 x86 7600RTM and Nvidia GF8700GT in my notebook. Please for help!

I am still unable to even install the game on Win7 64bit. Cant run STEAMBACKUP.EXE. It gives me a not compatible error.
I install Phoenix and point it to the .SIM file and get the "Apps" section not found in "C:\… _disk1.sis"! Wrong disk?

WTF? I want to give this game a try!

Have you noticed that a new release of SKIDROW is issued? Thats the hammer for all Steam nuts at RELOADED release. Try it! However RELOADED is working for me, and so I do not need to grab another one.
