The greatest film of all time. Sure it’s a cliché so say that, but I really can’t think of a more complete film than “The Godfather”. Being a lover of mafia films helps my case but I think anyone with a love for movies would say this is a pure masterpiece of cinema. It is the number two on the IMDB list of the top movies of all time and a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Finally it’s here in High Definition. It was a few years ago that I saw this film last so I think its definitely worth a re-watch in 720p. If you haven’t seen it, NOW IS THE TIME!

Quality: Absolutely brilliant. It feels great to finally see this in High Definition. The source is 1920×1080 but its been scaled down to 1280×720. This was released as a box set, so you can expect Godfather 2 and 3 to follow soon. I hope you’ll enjoy this film as much as I have.

Based on the best-selling novel by Mario Puzo (who co-wrote the screenplay with director Francis Ford Coppola), THE GODFATHER tells an epic tale of Mafia life in America during the 1940s and 1950s. Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) is the family patriarch balancing a love of his family with an ambitious criminal instinct. At the wedding of the Don’s daughter Connie (Talia Shire), youngest son Michael (Al Pacino) is reunited with his family. A subsequent assassination attempt leaves the Don too ill to run the family business, forcing Michael and Sonny (James Caan), with the help of consigliere Tom Hagen (Robert Duvall), to lead the Corleones into a vendetta-filled war with other mob families.

it’s extremely overrated. I rather watch Prison Break Season 1 than this. Or 100’s of other films!. Best movie of all time is #1 on IMDB The Shawshank Redemption. For it’s time it was great around then but now its so outdated and looks cheap and funny to watch…

the only reason that shawshank redemption is #1 is the douche bag dark night fanboys trying to get TDK above Godfather into the number one spot by rating it 1s, this is a known fact to anyone that frequents IMDB because the amount of rating godfather has skyrocketed when TDK came out. Well those douches might get TDK above godfather soon. But anyway as im saying shawshank is a awesome movie but its definity not deserving to be above godfather, now im not saying godather deserves #1 but all im saying is its definitly better than shawshank

actually Shawshank Redemption was already ahead of the GodFather lots of months before The Dark Knight came out. So thats a load of b.s. It was so boring when I watched the godfather I didnt even watch it in one sitting. People that are old and there wasnt much great movies then would think the Godfather was amazing but I give it like a 8. and that was extremely nice of me.

You’re crazy to think of a moldy looking old boring movie like Godfather would be considered near imdb’s #1. Tropic thunder is right, Shawshank has been #1 for over a year. For its time Godfather would be good but so many movies are better Godfather. Looks like they spent like 1 dollar on it back then.
