Here is a new type of release by DMT. It’s a BDRip in XviD form, I hope this becomes a new standard and replaces DVDRip as it looks better and is the same size, just coming from a BluRay Disc instead of a DVD. NGR released the 720p rip of this first and I will be watching that, this movie looks like a pretty good comedy and it has the stoner from pineapple express lol.
Quality: As I said, the quality looks better than DVDRip and it is the same size. So this makes for great viewing and it is released earlier than the DVDRip.
Edit: Zack.And.Miri.Make.A.Porno.2008.DVDRip.XviD-COCAIN is now out, and will probably, or should really be nuked for dupe, as DVDRip dupes BDRip and BDRip dupes DVDRip as they are the exact same quality really.

Don’t get fooled. Think about this: If you shrink an 8×10 picture to 4×6, and you shrink a 11×14 of the same shot to 4×6 you will have two identical 4×6’s. Just because one source is of higher resolution than the other doesn’t yield a better result. If you think you see a better picture in the BRrip, that’s called the placebo effect. Look it up.

Not talkin about shrinking the size of the picture you dumbass! This is a rip from a better quality source than a dvd rip and the difference is noticeable, would be better over 2 disks but it is still better than a standard dvd rip.

during the mpeg2 compression details might have been lost that xvid is still able to catch. of course with xvid the difference isn’t that big because it sucks but there’s absolutely no reason to wait for an inferior source if the other one is even sooner available.

@ 16 (adikt): actually it’s not the same thing. the better source you have the better the result. for example…
if I started with a VHS source and encoded it to a 700mb xvid file it would not be as good of quality as if I had done it with a DVD source. in effect a BlueRay source should produce a better file as well, because there was more information in the beginning to work with.
if I were to put it back in picture terms as you did, then we are not just comparing picture sizes here but megapixels as well.

BDRip are slightly better in terms of quality because the source is better.
The resolution and bitrate don’t matter. CAM releases are often 1000+ kbps but that doesn’t make them watchable. BDRips may have the same video stats like DVDRips but just because the source is better so is the resulted video.
In the past few months BDRips often (miss)labeled as BRRips are becoming more and more frequent form of movie rip. Let’s hope that most scene groups will turn to this rather than standard dvdrips.

@ 6 (sc0rff): You sound like a moron.. Who gives a shit about tagging? Who cares about noobs that don’t know what a m-HD is? m-HD’s are for people that want great quality with less size. I used to only get them for comedies and certain dramas or anything else that doesn’t really benefit from 720p.
I don’t understand your point at all either. Yes, obviously HD is HD, these are called m-HD for micro or mini HD. BDRip is a rip directly from the Blu Ray and m-HD is a re-encoded 720p or 1080p.
Now most of the encoders are making them 720p usually at 1899MB, 2199MB or 1399MB for short movies. The quality is excellent and if you do screenshot comparisons to the m-720p’s and the ‘full’ 720p’s you can’t even tell the difference for many of them and can barely tell the difference for most. The main difference is the audio is usually AAC @ 192 5.1 or 256 5.1, but for most movies that’s good enough for me.
Go to hd-bb.org if you want the best(by far) source for m-HD on the net. That’s the forum where all the re-encoders are.

That’s from DMT’s nfo. I don’t get it. Why would you rather use a DVDRip when the BluRay is the superior source? That’s like saying only use HDTV if PDTV isn’t available! WTF?
It’s not like it matters that much since they’re using XviD and compressing it to 700MB so they’re not taking advantage of the BD’s superiority. I guess the quality is slightly better though.

@ 27 (jongo): m-HD’s are P2P, not scene and they’re a lot better than a lot of the scene stuff. Just like ESiR, ctrlHD, iLL, THORA, DON, HiDT, EuReKA, ect. have some of the best 720p and 1080p releases but they’re P2P, not scene.
Those are the XviD rules from 2005. lol.. That’s old news jongo.
Here’s the most current x264 rules that I know of:

[ Intro ]
For the past two and a bit months most groups have adapted to the new 3.0 rules which made the x264 scene more
uniform. It is however time for a small addtion to the rules. With 3.1 compressed rars are no longer allowed as
compressing h264 does not reduce the size much, it just makes extracting slower. We have also decided to
keep all release compliant with Level 4.1 of the ITU-T h264 specification. With all releases L4.1 it should
be no problem for hardware players to play them. Please refer to the latest ITU-T h264 specification which is
detailed when it comes to levels, refs etc. instead of using random incorrect internet sources as reason for nuke.
This rule set will target HDDVD and BluRay sourced 720p and 1080p movie and TV-show rips.
[ Previous Releases ]
These rules do not apply to previous releases, and propering for those reasons will not be tolerated.
[ General ]
1.1) Release must be packed in RAR. SFV and NFO must be included.
1.2) Rars should be in multiples of 50 MiB, no more than 99 files.
1.3) Compressed rars are not allowed.
1.4) Release must be muxed into mkv container.
1.5) NFO should contain information on Audio and Video Bitrate.
1.6) BluRay and HDDVD Sources dupe each other.
1.7) Suggested directory format:
Movie.Name.YEAR..BluRay.x264.-GROUP
TV.Show.SxxExx..BluRay.x264.-GROUP
1.8) No intros, outros, betweenos, or any other form of defacement of the film will be tolerated.
1.9) Credits must not be removed but can be encoded at a lower bitrate provided they
don’t contain any scenes (bloopers, story, etc).
1.10) A sample roughly 60 seconds in length is required.
1.10.1) It must be cut from the final release and not encoded separately.
1.10.2) It must be put within a directory named "Sample".
[ Audio ]
2.1) Audio must be AC3, DTS or FLAC, preferably from source.
DTS core must be extracted from a DTS HR/HD MA track.
AC3 640 kbit, DTS 768 kbit and DTS 1536 kbit must be encoded from a higher bitrate source.
Encoded DTS track must be decodeable by older hardware decoders.
FLAC audio must be created from LPCM, DTS HD MA or TRUEHD sources.
2.2) Audio bitrate must never be below 640 kbit, unless source only has lower bitrate audio track.
2.3) All audio shall be 5.1 with correct channels, except in the case of stereo/mono only.
2.4) Release must only contain one audio track muxed into the mkv container, unless original language isn’t english.
2.4.1) Original language audio track or English dubbed track must be used.
2.4.1.1) English dubbed movie without original audio track must be tagged -DUBBED-.
2.4.1.2) DUBBED release only allowed if no release with secondary English dubbed audio track exists.

3.1) If needed, appropriate de-interlacing and ivtc must be applied.
3.2) Must use a minimum encode of 2 passes.

3.4) Crop the black borders from the source. Crop to the widest frame possible.
3.4.1) Resizing is not allowed on 1080p encodes. Either crop to closest mod8/mod16 without overcropping, or crop().addborders()
3.5) Use the same aspect ratio as the source, not what IMDB or cover says.
3.6) Custom Matrices are allowed.
3.7) VfW (Video for Windows) is not allowed.
3.8) x264 version used must be at least 999 and no more than 50 revisions from newest.

3.10) –deblock must be enabled.

@ adikt, grep: a side effect of resizing down is that the small noise from the source becomes smaller. In the case of blu-ray it simply disappears, leaving a very clean and compressible material.

It looks from the screens like BDrips "are" the better way. They take up less space and are higher resolution. Wow, wow wow.
